Wenge is widespread in tropical African forests, mainly in southern Cameroon up to the Belgian Congo. Wenge wood has highly differentiated sapwood and heartwood: the sapwood can be up to 3 centimeters wide and is almost white in color while the heartwood can vary from golden brown to dark brown with black veins. Small yellowish streaks may also be present due to the presence of minerals in the woody structure. Wenge is an extraordinarily decorative wood. Wenge wood is very heavy, has little shrinkage, is extremely resistant to mechanical pressure and traction and is almost impervious to parasites. Thanks to these characteristics, Wengè has notable durability qualities. However, given its hardness, this wood can easily splinter along the grain. Wengè has found, in recent times, wide use in the construction of musical instruments, mainly for keyboards and necks. The necks for classical guitar, depending on availability, may be 90cm x 2.2cm long without base, or 65cm with 15cm x base. 8.3cm x 5cm or 30cm x 8.3cm x 2.2cm Guitar 70cm x 10cm x 3cm Bass 90cm x 10cm x 3cm Classical guitar See description above NB The necks are generally supplied with a tangential cut, the fourth according to availability
